How to Build an Adsense Website
You can build your website around general topics or niche topics. Generally speaking, niche websites work better with Adsense because the ad targeting is much better and, since you have much more focus, your writing naturally becomes better naturally.
If this is your first try at building an Adsense website, make it about something that you have an active interest in as it will make the process much easier and less painful to accomplish. Make sure that your topic has enough of an ad inventory so that you can add lots of content and that the payout is at a level you are comfortable with. You may love medieval folk dancing but the pool of advertisers for that subject is very small.
When you’re building a new website, don’t put Adsense on it until it’s finished. In fact, don’t put adsense on it until you have built inbound links and started getting traffic. If you put up a website with placeholder text, your adsense ads will be off-topic which is often true for new files on existing websites, especially if the topic is new or different. It may take days or weeks for Google’s mediabot to come back to your page and get the ads properly targeted.
Once you know you are going to put Adsense on your website, you’re going to have to consider where to put it. A new site is easier rather than an existing site. While every website is different, Google has published some instructions showing the optimal locations. No surprise that the best spots are in the middle of the page and on the left-hand side. Some sites do well by placing it on the right but it all comes down to the design of the website itself. Always be prepared to change it if it doesn’t work out. |
